"Engineer a plastic remote body ready for injection molding"
What is the point in designing a product if it can't be manufactured? This course consisted of modeling a plastic body in SolidWorks in such a way that it could be produced. As part of this technical drawings were made and tolerances between different parts were calculated.
As input I was given an image and some global measurements, as the aesthetics were not an important factor during this course. The main focus was the technical aspect. A few mockups from internal parts formed the constraints on the inside of the product. After deciding on the positioning of the interal parts I started applying designrules, designing connections, applying manufacturing tolerances, running simulations on the product, and finally creating technical drawings.
